Types of Paper Towel Dispensers: Which to choose

There are different types of paper towel dispensers which can make it a little unclear which to choose for your business. Mechanical or battery-operated? Touchless or classic? Here are the four common types of paper towel dispensers to choose from.

C-Fold or Multifold Paper Towel Dispenser

As simple as it gets, the classic paper towel dispenser. This is just a basic box with door – no moving parts or electronics. They dispense the standard size c-fold or multifold paper towel.

  • They work well in nearly any type of commercial restroom
  • Easy to mount
  • Easy maintenance

Automatic Paper Towel Dispensing

Most of these models run on batteries, versus needing to be near an electrical source. They feature adjustable sheet length and time delay to assure the perfect amount of paper is distributed.

  • Puts out a set amount of paper
  • Saves money from overuse
  • Clean touch free

Touchless Paper Towel Dispenser

While similar to the automatic paper towel dispenser above, these can dispense a paper towel without batteries or electricity. With one pull of the towel, an established length is distributed and the next paper towel comes out automatically. The user doesn’t even have to touch the device!

  • No need for batteries or electricity
  • Saves money from overuse
  • Touch free experience

Center pull Towel Dispenser

These tend to be compact and can fit anywhere. Because they dispense one paper towel at a time, they are an excellent option for “one-at-a-time hygienic dispensing”. The user does not have to touch the device either.

  • Fit anywhere
  • One-at-a time hygienic dispensing
  • Saves money from overuse

Controlled electric dispensers are more expensive than more basic, manual or mechanic dispensers.

The battery and electric dispensers are sophisticated and seem simple, but these features can fail, leaving users very frustrated! Our advice is to avoid these as they can give you technical maintenance duties. Batteries can also add another unwanted expense in replacing and monitoring charge levels. Additionally, rarely is the user able to know how much life the batteries have left.
